Field-Installable connectors
Fujikura’s field-installable connectors allow easy termination of fibre optic cables in the field, with the reliability that customers have come to expect. There are 2 types, defined by the splicing technology and explained below.
Mechanical Splice Technology
Fujikura’s FASTTM Connector utilizes the mechanical splice technology and requires minimal assembly tools. Its ease of deployment and reliability makes it highly suitable for large-scale FTTx builds, with millions supplied every year.
Standard connector types like SC or LC are available, for terminating various cable types from Drop cable to 250 µm coated fibers.
The Mechanical Splice may also be used for splicing fibres together if a connector is not required.
For drop cables, the Cable Grip Splice with the Drop Connecting Case provides both splicing and outdoor protection at the same time.
Fusion splice technology
The FuseConnect™ is a series of field-installable connectors which are factory pre-polished, and easily terminable using Fujikura’s Fusion Splicers.
This eliminates polishing, adhesives and crimping in the field, which minimizes the potential for operator error and expensive connector scrap. Fusion splice addresses return loss concerns present in analog optical networks. This advanced process yields true APC performance for SC/APC and LC/APC configuration. The innovative design and simplified field installation makes the FuseConnect™ the ideal choice for various fiber termination and FTTX applications.
